They are the bold ones who&rsquo;ve defied convention and dared to dream bigger than what many of us could even imagine.&nbsp;They are <a href=\"https:\/\/cafemom.com\/parenting\/224317-baby-girl-names-inspired-by-fearless-women\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the powerhouses<\/a>. And while we appreciate all the women who&rsquo;ve done the hard work of breaking barriers before us, as moms ourselves, we know just how much more challenging it is for a mother. So on International Women&rsquo;s Day, we want to take some time to highlight and celebrate the moms who&rsquo;ve shattered glass ceilings, broken through all the gates, and inspired us along the way.<\/p><p>Moms have run for president! We&rsquo;re commanding boardrooms and launching startups. We&rsquo;re working from home and creating flexible schedules that help us raise our families. We&rsquo;re getting involved in male-dominated fields such as math, science, tech, and engineering. All around us, women are kicking butt and taking names in so many ways, and <em>that<\/em> deserves to be celebrated, today and every day.<\/p><p>Yes, we&rsquo;ve still got a long way to go. The <a href=\"https:\/\/thestir.cafemom.com\/politics_views\/203949\/mom_up_america_pay_inequality\">gender pay gap<\/a> continues to hold us back. We&rsquo;re still fighting for fair and adequate maternity leave and better treatment in the workplace. But we&rsquo;re inching closer and closer to that finish line. As Hillary Clinton once said after losing the Democratic primary in 2008, &ldquo;Although we weren&rsquo;t able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time &hellip; it&rsquo;s got about 18 million cracks in it. The path will be easier next time.&rdquo; <\/p><p>Now, as we continue to keep smashing it, let&rsquo;s remember the countless women who have tested the limits and broken barriers for the rest of us in all sorts of ways. Some became living icons; others fell through the cracks of history, only to be recognized for their achievements posthumously. But all led extraordinary lives in extraordinary times, doing the unexpected and making their marks on the world.
